Parador de Granada San Francisco
Spend a night in a 15th Century Convent, among gardens & fountains which recall a paster where Arabian merged with the Christian.  The Parador is part of a palace and mosque built between 1332 and 1354 which was later converted into a Franciscan convent with a charming tiled Patio remaining from this conversion.

Part of the building was the former chapel where the Kings of Spain were buried until their remains were moved to the Royal Chapel where they now lie.

The interior combines the Arabic and Christian styles with classical furniture, numerous portraits, engravings, embroideries etc.  The bedrooms are all different and have views of the famous buildings that make up the Alhambra site.

Basically translates into the Royal Andalucían School of Equestrian Art Foundation – and you can expect nothing less than that!  The King and Queen of Spain are regular visitors on a private basis!Truly one of the major insider tips of Andalucía!  We highly recommend taking a day or two to experience the wonders of horsemanship, the beauty and natural rhythm of the Pure Thoroughbred Spanish Horse!  Nothing except the Palominos in Vienna (which are also Thoroughbred Spanish Horses only called Palomino for their distinct white color) come close to the experience in Jerez de la Frontera!

Show dates and times can be found on the web page mentioned below!

There are plenty of hotels to choose from within Jerez de la Frontera and surroundings, making it an excellent opportunity to combine the visit to the Equestrian School with other activities, such as a tour of an authentic bodega, as recommended below!

González Winery – A Passion for the Authentic - The Beauty of Bodegas
And the way they work their magic with the grapes!  Founded back in 1835 by a partnership between Spanish Manuel Maria González Angel and his British agent Robert Blake Byass, González Byass is one of the "classic bodegas" of the sherry triangle (Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlucar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa Maria).  The winery itself is still family owned, and boasts vineyards in the best parcels of Jerez- Macharnudo, Carrascal and Burujena.

The flagship sherry though is one single brand, Tio Pepe (Uncle Joe).  Tio Pepe has singlehandedly changed the way people perceive sherry.  With domestic demand sagging and even the reliable export markets waning in the mid nineties, the top Sherry houses had to do something to avoid financial meltdown.  González Byass launched an aggressive marketing campaign, showing young people enjoying bone dry sherry in elegant wine glasses, countering the misperception of thimbles of sweet sherry that grannies sipped on.  Their advertising campaign was one of the most creative and dynamic wine campaigns in Spain in recent years.

Lanjaron Spa
Ever wondered where that bottled water came from on the supermarket shelves, called Lanjaron?  36 km from Granada… We that you visit its origin by giving you a few more details so that you can go and explore!  The Spa is one of the best known in Andalucía thanks to the successful marketing of its drinking water.  It has five natural springs of medicinal waters and is often referred to as the 'Fountain of Health'.  The water originates from the Sierra Nevada (Snow Mountains) and the town is often referred to as the main gateway to the 'Alpujarra' mountains, which backs on to the Sierra Nevada ski station.

The Spa has a large ballroom and magnificent chandeliers which testify to the importance of the Spa in a bygone age.  It is open from February to December of each year. It is 500m above sea level.  The climate is fresh in summer, with temperatures rarely going above 28ºC and winters are generally mild, with minimum temperatures of around 12ºC.

Therapies offered for: digestive system, rheumatism, respiratory problems, stress and nervous system.

Treatments on offer: Drinking water, Jacuzzi baths, underwater massage, jet and circular sprays, inhalation, steam, mud baths, massage, reflexology, electrotherapy and lymphatic drainage.

A quaint hotel called Alcadima is located within the town of Lanjarón, within walking distance of the Spa.  Of course there are others as well, but we thought this one would be to your liking as well!
