FERIAS on the COSTA DEL SOL

FERIAS!  Party Spanish Style!  Day and night!  The intention to give you all the dates in advance is so that you can plan your stay on the Costa del Sol around the dates of the different Ferias! The dates below have been checked and are set for the year 2009!  Take note that during the week of festivities most businesses are closed in the afternoon!

Marbella   It's like a 'calling-in the -summer' ritual! The first major Feria on the Costa del Sol and it shows on the streets!
8th – 14th June After the winter people can’t wait to get out and enjoy the warm sunshine!
The colors in the streets are as vibrant as the atmosphere! Marbella  stands still for a week!

Marbella

8th – 14th June                Its like a ‘calling-in-the-summer’ ritual!  The first major fería on the Costa del Sol and it shows on the streets! After the winter                                           people can’t wait to get out and enjoy the warm sunshine! The colors in the streets are as vibrant as the atmosphere! Marbella  stands still   for a week!

Estepona

13th – 17th May                Considered the ‘mini’ fería among the locals
7th – 12th July                  Principle fería of the Municipality – and never short of trying to match the previous month which was the Fería in Marbella!                                                 Neighboring Municipalities rivalry results in a common good for everyone!!

Benahavís
13th – 16th August            Gotta love this one!  This is a unique fería because the town of  Benahavís has maintained its charm throughout the years of                                             growth on the Costa del Sol.  Ironically the road leading to it is a Cul de Sac, so… a one way street to the fería!  Perfect! Highly                     recommended to take a taxi there and back!  The police arealways waiting at the end of the street!

Benalmádena Pueblo
13th – 16th August            A melting pot of cultures all doing the same thing from the Spanish culture – fiesta time!  It is so easy to go with the flow                                                during the fería, anything else would not be advisable!  Enjoy, watch people enjoy, and enjoy some more! Certainly something to write home about!

Málaga
14th – 23rd August            This is by far one of the largest fairs of the Costa del Sol with a  huge firework display on August 14th  at midnight on the                                                 popular Malagueta beach and another spectacular display on the final night of 23rd August at the Cortijo de Torres

Ronda
2nd – 6th September          The day fair at Ronda (Fería del Día) is renowned for being one of the best on the Costa del Sol and is worth a trip up to the                                            mountain town of Ronda.

Mijas
6th – 11th September         A traditional fería in comparison to the Municipalities surrounding the town, like Benalmádena, Torremolinos &                                                             Fuengirola!  Much more intimate, but certainly not lacking in  flair and atmosphere!

Torremolinos
25th – 29th September       While the fair is officially held for five days, it includes a  number of events in the run-up to the main celebration,                                                             spilling over into more than a week of festivities.  Traditionally free paella is served every day of the week!

Fuengirola
6th – 12th October             Stalls are open throughout the town with typical Spanish music, food, drinks and dancing ...lots of dancing!  There is also                                                 an excellent exhibition of Spanish horses in the processions.  A multicultural community with a lot of European countries                                                     represented – you would not know that is the case as everyone blends in and joins the festivities!

San Pedro de Alcántara
14th – 19th October           Just like Marbella is deemed to be the opening fería to the fería season, San Pedro has the status of being the one to close                                                 the festivities until the next year!  Meaning…. Everyone comes out in force!  NO Exceptions! Just one more time to dance in the streets!
